We are often fascinated by the beautiful, colorful, graceful and ever joyful birds. They soar high in the sky and inspire us in many ways.

Many stories and sayings are connected with birds and are considered to be symbols of love, joy, life, freedom and much more.

Many folklores and stories suggest that birds were taken as signs of renewed life, often as a transition between life and death. Many even consider them to be an idea or proposal for the future.

Crow

 CROW Teaches us how to learn from situation and to feel 'guilt free' when we are assertive. Crow is the bringer of harmony.

Hummingbird

 HUMMINGBIRD symbolizes an optimistic approach to life, it reflects
                     on the gentleness of
                      the individual. 

Eagle

 EAGLE Perhaps the most sacred of all birds, and regarded by many cultures as the 'sacred messenger'. Eagle can help us in contacting Spirit for healing. Also said to assist us in tapping into our own creative and healing energies. It is also believed that working with Eagle energy brings light to areas of darkness.

Robin

Robins are symbolic of a rebirth or the beginning of a new idea.

PEACOCK There can be few who do not recognize the exotic plumage of this magnificent bird. The 'eye' of each feather is said to symbolize God's Eyes watching over you and protecting you. 

Peacock

STORK

Seeing a stork symbolizes a creative and speculative individual.


SWAN Known for their loyalty to their partners and families, these birds are also known to be highly protective, yet gentle and tender. Their energy is said to aid 'healing, enlightenment, and inner knowing'.

Flamingos refer to an outgoing personality. It also denotes responsibility and vibrancy. 

TURKEY The feathers of this bird are often used in ceremonial tools and clothing. Turkey is said to offer cleansing and healing. Appearances can be deceptive, Turkey is a communal bird and resourceful.

RAVEN Brings magic into our lives, aids us on our spiritual path, brings joy back into our lives. Said to bring 'synchronicity' into our lives.

CHICKADEE is symbolic of higher thinking capabilities, which implies a better understanding of the self as well as that of the world. 

OWL

Pelicans

Wise as the owl or not, owls are symbolic of an inquisitive individual.

PELICANS are symbolic of abundance, besides, they are also symbolic of acts of charity and generosity.

SPARROWS are sweet little birds that symbolize companionship, and a symbol of hope. 

WOODPECKERS are protectors of the trees and refer to people who are protective of nature and their surroundings. 

GEESE are symbolic of an individual who can babble nonstop for hours on end.  

DOVE

Purity and innocence best define the dove. 

FALCONS like eagles are taken as signs of hope and positivity.

BLUEBIRDS are associated with spiritual joy and contentedness, it most often predicts the occurrence of a happy condition or good tidings coming your way.

Water: we once thought it was an endless natural resource. Now we know better.

• Over 1.5 billion people do not have access to clean, safe water.

• Almost 4 million people die each year from water related diseases.

• Unsafe water is the biggest killer of children under five; around 90% of all diarrheal deaths are in this age group.

• The recommended daily water requirement for sanitation, bathing, cooking and consumption is approximately 50 liters per person per day.

• It takes over 11,000 liters of water to produce a pound of coffee.

• It takes about 300 liters of water to make the paper for just one Sunday newspaper.

• Drilling a fresh water well can cost anything from a few hundred dollars to over $40,000.

• A five minute shower in an American household will use more water than a person living in a developing world slum will use in a whole day.

• In India alone, water born diseases cost the economy 73 million working days per year.

• In a typical year in Africa 5–10 times the number of people die from diarrhea than from war.

• A child dies of water born diseases about every 15 seconds (that’s about 12   children just since you started reading this article). By this time tomorrow, another 2,500 will be dead.

• In Sub-Saharan Africa women spend on average 16 hours a week collecting water.

Innovation in the path of learning on World Water day

Lets get creative today and bring innovation in our World Water Day week by making a craft to understand how the balance of water on the Earth is maintained and is still constant after it is repeatedly lost and gained again and again.

This simple model represents the cycle of water from the ocean to the atmosphere and down again. You'll need two half gallon jars, a rock, masking tape and food coloring.

1. Pour about 1.5 inches of water into one of the half gallon jars. Add a few drops of food coloring. This water represents the ocean.
2. Put the rock in the middle of the jar. Some of the rock should stick up out of the water. This rock represents land.
3. Invert the second jar and place it over the first jar. Tape the two jars together.
4. Place the model in a sunny windowsill and observe.

The colored water in the bottom of the jar is heated by the sun. Some of this water receives enough energy to evaporate into water vapor (particles of pure water too small to be seen). The water vapor rises up in the warm air. When the water vapor comes close to the cooler sides of the jar it cools and condenses onto the jar. As more water vapor condenses onto the jar, droplets form and eventually grow big enough to precipitate down to the bottom. The droplets that condense out onto the sides of the jar are not colored like the water in the bottom of the jar. The larger food coloring particles are left behind just as salt and pollutants are left behind when water evaporates from oceans. You can build another simple model of the water cycle using a zip lock 

baggie.

The 3rd Day

Here's our second list how we kids can preserve water!

• When running a bath, plug the tub before turning the water on, then adjust the temperature as the tub fills up.

 

• Use a grease pencil to mark the water level of your pool at the skimmer. Check the mark 24 hours later to see if you have a leak.

• Collect water from your roof to water your garden. 

• Share water conservation tips with friends and neighbors. 

• Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and save 25 gallons a month.

The difference clean water makes      _____________________________

Clean water has changed this family's life. "We used to get water from a distant, dirty river where people were bathing and washing their clothes in the stream, along with the animals. As a result of the new project, we have clean water to drink. This is the most important thing for us."

Happiness came in the form of clean water for Priest Gebrehiwet Weldetsadkan, his wife Abrehet Reda, and their four children in Whidet, in northern Ethiopia. Priest Gebrehiwet Weldetsadkan shares his story:

"We like the new water project because it solved the shortage of clean water in our village and enabled our kids to attend to their education properly instead of going to collect water every day.

"The new water point reduces the walking distance by almost half an hour and for us. This is a big improvement. As a result, we are now spending our time on other, more productive, activities.

"The whole community cooperated and participated in construction of the water point. We are all delighted to have it. Some people even built latrines as part of the program. I attended one training focusing on hygiene and environmental sanitation practices. The training sessions were helpful, as it has enabled me to know more about health and sanitation, which I did not know before. We learned how washing our hands with soap before and after every meal, as well as after visiting the latrine, are the most effective ways to protect our health status.

"I have already told many whom I know about the training and I will continue to pass it on to other parts of the community who did not get the chance to attend. We are using different [opportunities] such as the holidays, weekends, and meetings, to share what we learned with others.

"Our community formed a water and sanitation committee to manage and maintain the water point on a daily basis. The program is managed by the committee, the community, and the hired guard. The guard and the committee are responsible for the day-to-day activities of the well. The committee regularly talks with the community about how they are performing their duty as a water committee; rules and regulations issued by the committee; the fees collected in order to use the well; and closing and opening the water point. Our community is capable because we are aware of the importance of this program and how we can sustain it.

"The community will take on other programs after this. It requires the participation of all the beneficiaries in the day-to-day activities to make it last."

The 1st Day Of Our 'World Water Day' week

Dear readers,

Here's wishing all of you a very good morning on the first day of our 'World Water Day' week.

 Here are 5 ways in which we kids can help in the conservation of water and make this Earth a better place to live!

•  Plant in the fall when conditions are cooler and rainfall is more plentiful.

•  Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan  of water instead of running water from the tap. 

•   Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you'll save up to  150 gallons per month.

•    When you want to cool off, use the sprinkler in an area where your lawn needs it the most.
  

•   Turn off faucets tightly after each use.

Beginning our World Water Day week

As you might be aware the 22nd of March is celebrated worldwide as Water Day.

    The U.N. designates March 22 as the day of the year when we spotlight the global safe water and sanitation issue and the collective efforts underway to get solutions to those struggling and in need. 

This year we at Kids Creative Zone have decided to begin our celebrations from today (that is 19th March) and celebrate this week till the 24th as a week dedicated to WATER.



Remember, Water is precious and so it must be used Wisely.

So keep a look out for all the fun facts and activities on Water this week!

INTERNATIONAL ASK A QUESTION DAY

Dear readers,

The next event on our calendar this month is the 'INTERNATIONAL ASK A QUESTION DAY'.

We at kids creative zone take this opportunity to inspire and urge friends and children from across the world to go ahead and ask a question.

Many don't understand what he teacher is talking about but only few go up to her to clarify and ask a question.   

Many of us have a fight with friends and often can't really understand what the problem is but few ask each other and themselves questions to resolve the matter. 

There are many who want to converse with a new friend but afraid to ask them any questions and hence fail to make friends with them..

We all want to learn, do & experience new things but for this we must ASK QUESTIONS.

World Book Day Week

Dear Readers,


As we come to the end of a week of celebration on the occasion of the 15th World Book Day, celebrated world wide on the 1st of March, we wish to recollect and reflect on the week dedicated to book worms...


The World Book Day week (from 1st March-7th March) had us working hard after a long time. We began by seeking news and information about this event from all our friends across the world. With some work finally done and a lot learnt we now prepared ourselves to draw up a list of books our friends could read to celebrate this week.

We tried our best to spread awareness, the love for books and joy of reading and hope that our readers have enjoyed the articles posted on WORLD BOOK DAY in our Celebrations of Life section.

CELEBRATING WORLD BOOK DAY

Dear Readers,


This 1st March Kids Creative Zone takes the opportunity to wish all its readers and friends from around the World a Happy World Book Day.
 World Book Day is the biggest celebration of its kind, anywhere. Millions and millions of book vouchers given out, great free books for kids, excitement everywhere (on blogs, in newspapers, on TV and in schools, libraries and, of course, bookshops), people coming together (including lots and lots of young readers) in a big, loud, happy celebration of reading. 
The main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a   book of their own.

 

This time we at kids creative zone spent our time trying to spread the love for books to children around us. We looked into the large cupboards in the library, studied the shelves of book stores and even dug out some old books to draw up a final list of books our young readers can read to celebrate their 'WORLD BOOK DAY' week.
